Verify a Charter Reliability Score
Every CRS displayed on this site was computed by an open-source verifier you can re-run yourself in five minutes. The verifier is charter-spec — MIT-licensed, no commercial dependencies.
Step 1 — install the verifier
pip install git+https://github.com/RGero215/charter-specOr clone and install in editable mode if you want to read the rule source:
git clone https://github.com/RGero215/charter-spec
cd charter-spec
pip install -e .Step 2 — run the 12 Charter rules
charter audit prereg.json \
--returns returns.csv \
--train-end 2024-09-30 \
--output artifact.jsonThe CLI emits the rule artifact and a human-readable summary. Sample output:
Charter rule artifact — v17_portfolio
Manager: Lifestyle Alpha
Tier: institutional
Rule outcomes:
R1 [PASS] 3,219 valid observations
R2 [PASS] Cost 1.0 bps applied to avg turnover 4.2%
R3 [PASS] OOS Sharpe 1.83 (95% CI [1.00, 2.04]); target ≥ 0.0
R4 [PASS] Alpha-Sharpe 1.31 (raw 1.47, β=0.05)
R5 [PASS] WF consistency 100% (4/4 folds positive)
R6 [PASS] Pre-reg sealed: 32bdcae7…
R7 [PASS] Tier: institutional
R8 [PASS] Max DD 3.1% vs target ≤ 15.0%
R9 [ N/A] Multi-seed cohort not provided — N/A
R10 [ N/A] Refusal log not in MVP — N/A
R11 [ N/A] Quarterly recert check at consumer — N/A
R12 [PASS] p-value 0.001 vs threshold 0.10 (institutional)
Totals: 8 pass · 0 fail · 4 N/A
(Submit this artifact to a Charter authority for CRS scoring.)Step 3 — independently confirm the CRS
The rule outcomes above are the open part. The CRS scoring formula — the weights that turn the 12 booleans + summary stats into a 0-100 number — is the closed part, analogous to the FICO weighting formula. That keeps the headline score consistent across managers; the rule outcomes themselves stay verifiable to any third party.
To confirm a CRS, submit your rule artifact to a Charter authority:
curl -X POST https://audit.lifestylealpha.ai/cert/register \
-H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
-d '{"artifact": <your artifact.json>, "agree_terms": true}'The authority validates the artifact's self-hash (tamper detection), applies the closed scoring formula, and returns a signed certificate with the same CRS we publish. The cert SHA-256 is then anchored to Bitcoin via OpenTimestamps for permanent public reference.
What this verification proves — and what it doesn't
- ✓ The strategy declaration was sealed (SHA-256) before the backtest was run, and that seal still matches.
- ✓ The 12 Charter rules ran on the published returns and produced the published outcomes. Anyone can recompute and confirm.
- ✓ The CRS is the deterministic output of the scoring formula applied to the rule artifact — same input → same score, no possibility of recomputation mid-pitch.
- ✗ A Charter score does not predict future returns. It measures the discipline at the time of the audit, not whether the strategy will keep working.
- ✗ A high CRS does not mean this strategy is right for your portfolio — fit, capacity, tax treatment, and risk tolerance are separate questions.
Want to use this on your own managers? The Charter v1.1 spec is open. Any LP, family office, or allocator can require a Charter rule artifact from every manager they screen — the verifier is free, the rule outcomes are independently checkable, and managers can produce certificates without ever sharing strategy code. See github.com/RGero215/charter-spec.
